Don't Put The Squeeze on Your IGBT's

February 22, 2017

When removing and replacing a defective Insulated-Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) be sure to remove all residual thermal transfer compound and remove any dirt or grime on the heatsink.

When replacing an IGBT only use OEM specified IGBT Modules. When handling a new replacement IGBT use proper preventative Electro-Static Discharge measures to prevent ESD damage.

When installing an IGBT module Heat Transfer Compound must be evenly applied to the heat sink portion of the IGBT usually located on the mounting side. Mounting the IGBT is extremely critical to component operation and performance. By using the proper technique and equipment WE prevent breakage within internal hardware and provide proper thermal transfer of the IGBT module.

NOTE: Consider manufacturer specified mounting patterns and torque specs.
